Tener + que + infinitivo:
In Spanish you use the phrase “Tener + que + infinitivo” to express obligation. It is similar to the English “I have to…” or “I must…”. In fact “Tener + que” is used more frequently than “Necesito” (I need).

Pizarra Magica - Tener queFor example:
Tengo que ir al baño. (I have to go to the bathroom).
Tengo que comprar ese vestido. (I have to buy that dress).

It is also used for negative as well, but is a command rather than a desire. Such as:
No tienes que tomar si manejas. (You mustn’t drink if you drive).

There are many Verbs that you can make into a noun by adding the ending -miento to the verb root.

Can I Have Your Number?

“Uno, dos, tres, cuatro”

If you’ve heard the oh so annoying Pitbull song, counting to cuatro is a piece of cake. Maybe even up until diez or veinte. But how about the bigger numbers?  We’re talking hundreds here.

Luckily, that’s another subject that Bueno, entonces… happens to cover in one of the 30 Spanish classes in the series.  Here’s a clip from Spanish Class #6, in which Jimena and David are having their weekly Saturday review over the phone.

Take a look at our Color & Symbol Key to better understand our subliminal teaching method on the Pizarra Mí¡gica!  You can also read a review about Class #6 as well as the rest of the classes in the series by visiting one of our Learn Spanish review sites.

Feel like this is a language program that you could actually stick with?  That’s why we made it – we can’t sit and read about grammar for hours, either. Check out the Bueno, entonces…Learn Spanish site to find the whole downloadable 30-class series for only $147!

Bonus: If you’re a Bueno, entonces...Facebook Fan you get $50 off! Oh, and you could win a trip to Argentina.
