Que Bolu, Que Bolu– Another Funny Argentine Commercial

Here’s a Fibertel commercial to… well, not help you learn Spanish, but it’s still worth a watch.

All you really need to know is ‘Que bolu,’ which is what they sing over and over again in the song.  Bolu is short for boludo, which is Argentine slang for something like an idiot.  So the song is essentially saying ‘What an idiot, what an idiot,’ but with much more of a ring to it.

But don’t worry, if someone refers to you as a boludo, as in Che, boludo! don’t be offended.  Boludo can also mean ‘man,’ as in Hey, man!

And believe us when we say this song will be stuck in your head for the next few hours. Catchiest. Tune. Ever.

Funny Argentine Commercials

Doritos in Argentina was running a campaign….”Lleguemos a la segunda salida” which means, lets get to the second date. The advertisements were really funny so we thought that we would share some of them and translate them for you. Enjoy!

“The Call”

Boy: Answer it, answer it, no worries
Girl: Hello
Mom: Hi daughter, everything going ok?
Girl: Yea
Mom: tell me, did you take your coat with you?
Girl: Of course
Mom: Any problems with the car?
Girl: Zero
Mom: Great, just knock on my door when you come home.
Girl: Great, kisses
Mom: Bye!

“The call according to the poor guy”
Girl: Hello
Sexy Man: You’re with an idiot right?
Gril:Yea
Sexy Man: He’s got a horrible mole on his face, no?
Girl: Of course
Sexy Man: From one to five, what would you give him?
Girl: zero
Sexy Man: I have six lockers here and all have a prize (referring to his abs)
Girl: Great, kisses

Boy: umm….I have to go

Then the caption reads…Don’t answer!

Now this next one needs a little explaining. Before watching you should know about telo’s. Telo’s are hotels in Argentina that are rented out by the hour…you might even call them sex hotels. It may seem a bit sleazy but they are very popular here, especially because a lot of people live at home until they get married. So with that in mind, check out the next one.

Man: Lets go somewhere more comfortable.
Woman: Great, lets go.

Man: Lets go somewhere…where we can take off our shoes.
Woman: Great, lets go.

Man: Lets go somewhere more intimate.
Woman: Great, lets go.

Man: Lets go somewhere more relaxing.

And the caption reads: “Say Telo!”

Fun right?? Where you able to understand without reading the translations a little bit?? If not, you still can, just start your Spanish Classes! You can also do it with Spanish classes that actually make you laugh while learning.

In fact, you can check out the first Bueno, entonces… class for free, so you’ve got nothing to lose. See the 40 minute lesson here: http://www.generallinguistics.com

No Dejes Rastro de Esta Comida (Leave No Trace of this Meal)

One of our favorite ways to learn Spanish is by watching commercials. Check out this one, entitled “Nariz Grande”.

Hombre: ¿Querí©s un poquito de vino?

Mujer: No, no gracias.

Despuí©s te cierran, te cocen y te queda divina! Hermosa te queda”.

Mujer: Me opero de amígdalas.

Brutal.
